Roman Holiday (U)

Director: William Wyler | USA | 1953 | 118 mins
Cast | Audrey Hepburn, Gregory Peck, Eddie Albert

A timeless, exuberant classic, full of wit, charm and innocence and wonderfully performed by Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck.

Hepburn is Ann, a European princess on tour who, overwhelmed by her stifling schedule, absconds for a night off, incognito, in Rome. When a sedative she took kicks in, she falls asleep on a park bench, where she’is found by American reporter Joe (Gregory Peck) who takes her back to his apartment for safety. At work the next morning, he finds out her regal identity and bets his editor he can get an exclusive interview with her… but romance soon gets in the way. Beautifully shot on location in the streets of Rome and the studios of Cinecittà, it’s a gorgeous romantic comedy and a genuine classic.

“A modern fairytale […]  A lovely film.” ★★★★★ The Guardian
