A madcap screwball comedy classic, Top Hat stars legendary dance duo Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers at the height of their talents. Glamorous and enthralling, a Depression-era diversion beautifully scored by Irving Berlin, it’s the most successful and beloved picture of the iconic, prolific Astaire/Rogers partnership (which saw them star in an astonishing nine musicals from 1933-9).

When American dancer Jerry (Astaire) comes to London to star in a show produced by bumbling Horace (Edward Everett Horton), he wakes up wealthy tourist Dale (Rogers) by tap dancing in his hotel bedroom. She’s annoyed, but Jerry is instantly smitten and proceeds to pursue her throughout London, then to Venice – despite her reluctance, as she has mistaken him for (married) producer Horace…

A feel-good delight, Top Hat is filled with timeless songs (including ‘Cheek to Cheek’), masterful dance sequences and effortless style and panache.
